DuoChord
DuoChord is an original harpsichord & early piano duo—two women, one Irish, one Israeli, based in Paris and Tel Aviv. Jochewed Schwarz and Emer Buckley have been playing together as a harpsichord and fortepiano duo since 2011. Interested in Bach’s music, Jochewed discovered the harpsichord during her B.Mus. studies at the Rubin Music Academy (Tel Aviv University) and completed her M.A. in Early Music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Emer is originally from Dublin, where she studied at the R.I.A.M. with John Beckett; later with Kenneth Gilbert. She was professor of harpsichord and continuo at the Conservatoire de Lille for several years.
Jochewed and Emer meet regularly in Paris and Tel Aviv to prepare concerts and recordings. With several releases and performances across Europe and Israel, DuoChord plays music written for two keyboards and revives the documented Baroque/Classic practice of performing chamber music on paired keyboards. Their repertory includes historical manuscript arrangements and carefully prepared editions from printed sources of the 17th–18th centuries.
